Urgent Assistance Needed in Seeking A High School

Greetings,

I'm 16 years old and would be 17 soon this year.I would like to study in Japan, would be grade 10 according to Japan educational system. However,I just learnt to speak Japanese, currently on Beginner's 1.

Now the problem lies here.I believe that most High Schools in Japan teach subjects in Japanese of course. And to enter high schools,I would require a Diploma in Japanese.

I would need a school, that lessons would be taught in English,or a school that let's you start in English and trained you in Japanese language on the other hand.Looking for a well-established school as well,a good school with good teachers will stand a higher chance to get into University of Tokyo(That's my dream).

I would need to commerce a course in Japan before the age of 17 1/2 or I will not be able to request for deferment from Ministry of Defence.Serving National Service(Army) is compulsory here and deferment would not be granted to anyone above the age of 17 1/2.

All help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Uhh... I'm not familiar with the education system in your country but have you discussed this matter with a guidance counselor or somewhat at your current institution who could be in a better situation to help you? I'm sure there is an international school somewhere in Japan that fits the criterion you're looking for but in terms of applying, enrollment, financial assistance, etc. your best bet is again to get in touch with someone in the know. Sorry... not much help but that's the only advice I can think of at the moment.

Isn't there an exchange program you could apply to where you could attend a Japanese high school for six months or a year? I would think there would be one. If not I would take "Iron Chef's" advice and check with a counselor.

There are such schools. There's been some mention of them elsewhere in this forum (try the search function).

However they are very expensive so I guess you will need a) Money or b) Sponsorship of some kind.

You remind me of the Korean students I encountered at university in America. Practically every single one of them was only there so they could avoid their military service. I'll spare you my opinion of them.

Z: You asked me how I knew implying you knew I knew. In fact I saw some fish, strolling down by the Hao River, all jolly and gay.
