Single Kanji Meaning for Painting

Hello everyone. I'm hoping I picked the right forum for this, as it wasn't directly a grammar related question more of a project I'm working on.

I'm trying to create 5 tiles with one kanji each representing an the basic (and correct) meaning that I am aiming for behind them. It is for a friends garden.

This of course is a bit hard in Japanese (especially for someone inexperienced to an extreme like myself) when many words themselves are compounds. Only with adjectives is where it gets easy. I want it to be as accurate as possible, so I'm thought I would check here for any advice, or comments. They need to be single kanji, which I almost wonder if it would be easier in Chinese... but that is a guess.

The first kanji meaning is peace or tranquility. So far the kanji that best seems to fit is the 平 in 平和

The second kanji is joy or happiness. At first I thought 楽　but that wasn't quite right, so I'm thinking that 幸 is more accurate.

Those were the easy ones. The next three seems to be extremely difficult due to many resulting in multiple compounds of words I am unfamiliar with.

The third is Discipline or Perseverance. So far my best guess is 耐

The fourth I thought would be simple, but that proved entirely wrong. Truth or honesty. My best guess is 実

The fifth and last is compassion. Closest I can find is 情 but it doesn't seem right at all.

Any help or verification would be appreciated.

How about 真 for the fourth one?

Isn't that more of truth in a reality and religious sense than a concept of truth and honesty?

It may very well be. But I believe it probably fits better for the expression of an abstract concept than does 実. Just an opinion, which may not necessarily jibe with reality.

Might be right, although I wouldn't know either. Probably should have posted in the language board even though it isn't a grammar related topic the meaning behind the kanji is too focused on the language rather than just Japan in general. If any moderators see this could you shift it over to the language forum?
