Luna Sea
For those looking for a great J-ROCK/Visual Kei band I recommend LUNA SEA.
Unfortunally the band doesnエt exist anymore, but I think their talent should be spread to every J-Rock fan. I highly recommend non-fans to listen to END OF SORROW, their best song in my opinion, my favorite. Also try to listen the full album STYLE. So, for people who alreadt know them: whatエs your favorite song from amazing LUNA SEA?? |

Since this thread doesnt have anything to do with Dir en Grey, Hyde, Gackt, or Miyavi, dont expect too many people here to care.
I, on the other hand, LOVE Luna Sea. Roiser is one of my faves. Tonight is a great one also. |

I didn't like Luna Sea too much. :|
In fact... I think the only LS song I did like was Sandy Time; Ryuuichi's voice was so nasal it was kind of difficult to enjoy. I ~do~ like Sugizo's works though <3 Lydia (though thinking about it, I may have liked a whole album of their music, but it wasn't memorable enough to me so I've pretty much forgotten everything but Sandy Time and Fate.) |

Luna Sea was certainly one of the best bands of the nineties.
Can't really choose which song i like best, but "Storm" has always been one of my favorites... But then again, so is "Mother", "Rosier" and "In Silence".... and "Gravity" and "Sandy Time" (especially the live version) and "Shade" and .... *fades off into the distance* So yeah, shame they broke up. Ryuichi's solowork sucks. Sugizo and J do great work though. |

Luna Sea was one of the first bands I listened to when getting into the J-Music scene, so they hold a special significance for me... they were also featured on the first NHK Kohaku Utagassen concert I saw on videotape (1998), which was quite hilarious watching some middle-aged "enka" singers walk out dressed up like Luna Sea to try and throw them off.
Because of that, "I for You" (the song they performed in 1998) always stands out for me... and like other people, "Rosier" is also one of my favorites. For some reason I also like the B-side of the "Storm" single, "Kono sekai no atede" (IIRC).

I could hardly believe it when I saw a thread about Luna Sea, hardly anyone here seems to like them. I really love this band, but I only got into their music after they broke up unfortunately so I'll never be able to experience one of their lives, though if I did I'd probably be crushed by rabid fangirlies. It's hard to say which song is my favourite cos they're all great, but for now I'll say Genesis of Mind, Face To Face, Time is Dead, Gravity and No Pain. For the love of good music, don't let this thread be lost among the all the pretty boy worship and 'what does he look like without make-up' threads, PLEASE.

I'm very saddened that they had to part. Their music was changin', moving away from that edgy rock they managed to maintain for so long; their music bacame more melodious and i really liked them (I like their old works too). Best song? Hmm that's a tough one.

Well, I don't have much of theirs either, but I do have the PV for "In Silence" which is truly and utterly a great song (in my opinion anyway...), so "In Silence" would be my recommendation. In fact, I could even upload the PV for you!
Although I've also got 6 other songs of theirs, if you wish to have them as well.

aH the Luna Sea thread is so dead. When the X-Japan thread was revived somewhat I felt I needed to bring back the Luna Sea thread also, even if it's just for a while.
Anyways Luna Sea was the first JRock band I listened to. I love them. Gravity is my favorite song. Just yesterday I went to a little hole-in-the wall asian music store and found a copy of their Gravity single. I bought it right away and now i'm playing it non-stop in my room. Luna Sea is such a big part of JRock history so come and discuss people!! |

wow, a less than half page luna sea thread -.-
Luna Sea might not be the best technique/skills wise, but the way they master their instrument is just awesome, sugizo's effect setting skills is god and shinya provides solid backbone to songs by being simple. and i just love the night time atmosphere they create with their songs, and they got a sense of speed in it too, great for night driving on highway. |
