akuma o awaremu uta... that's essentially the same as the english title, with "song" at the end, which i think is put at the end of each episode of the show if i recall correctly. If I were to directly translate it, I'd say "song that pities (sympathizes with) the devil," where song is just a reference to the episode of the show.

btw, Japanese is just as readable left to right as it is top to bottom, your efforts are appreciated, but it was unnecessary to change the text direction

do yourself a favor and don't do it... removing the song part at the end makes it more like "I will pity the devil"... and kanji tattoos are so overdone and silly. If you want it to really have meaning to you, why not use the english name that you can actually read?

Thumbs up

yeah i get that from time to time. and ive noticed how overdone they are. i see kanji just about as much as i see stars tattoed on ppl. but i hardly ever see kanji phrases. most ppl have single characters that mean stuff like. "dangerous" or "love" ya know lil things like that. and i wanted that phrase in kanji, cuz it forces americans to ask what it means. and i love to debate religion. and honestly ive pondered many many nights over the reasoning behind lucifer rising up against god. i mean angels are said in the catholic religion to have infinite knowledge, and thus lucifer should have known that he would fail. so i belive that there is something missing to the story. not to mention i kinda sympathise with what the devil did. its hard to stand next to someone being told that you are his right hand man, and at the same time being told that if you dont obey you are worthless. i imagaine he just got tired of gods big ego and tried his hand in overthrowing the communist power, known as god in heaven. well at least acoriding to chatholic beliefs!

sorry for the unnecessary info. and thanks for the advice!

Its not a 'Kanji phrase'. Its just a japanese sentence. Its just like writing 'i pity devils' in English down your back, but in a language you can't read. In my opinion its one step even crazier than normal Kanji tatoos, and thats not even mentioning the content. People will think you are a Satanist who boils babies for breakfast. Sorry, I just meant to say that its a normal japanese sentence using both Kanji and hiragana, like normal Japanese does. If you want a 'Kanji phrase' look up yojijukugo.

I'll tell you what's missing from the story, a disclaimer that says, "The contents of this Bible are stories, and highly illogical ones at that, written by people to subjugate others and explain things they don't understand. These stories are not, under any circumstance, to be taken for fact."
Really, getting that [episode title] tattooed down your back is just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Do you spend a lot of time shirtless? Why add the extra hassle of having to explain what (you think) the Japanese means, rather than just using English? Then again, why don't you just get the Japanese or English or both printed on a T-shirt and wear that from place to place? It'll be easier for people to see it that way.
If you want a Japanese tatoo that'll make an impression on people, try this one on for size:
僕、読めん
or even better, in Chinese:
我不可讀

ya know with the exception of this reply i really feel like you all have helped me on this site. so i would like to say to you Jimmy Seal. F*** *** ** ****** *** ****** ** ******* **** ok!! thanks for understanding. and i agree the bible is not to be taken seriously by anyone who values logic in any means. and for that religion isnt to be taken seriously by anyone who values logic.

and here where i live getting that tattoed on me would not label me as a satanist! (which btw actually means "one who believes that they are the master of their own destiny"). unlike god lucifer never asked to be worshiped or has anything to do with evil in any means. the culture here has become so de-sensitised to just about everything that i could strip naked cover myself in blood then run thru the mall yelling "i wanna f*** a dog in the a**" and noone would even notice. simply b/c noone cares anymore. i guess this topic got blowed way out of proportion. all i originaly asked was what that lettering translated to and well the last i think three posts had not a d**n thing to do with that!
