verbs meaning the same??
hello,
I'm getting into new problems learning kanji, and this time is about different kanjis meaning same verbs, and even being read the same. For example 創める (はじめる) (ichidan) to start 始める (はじめる) (ichidan) to start Same happends with "kaeru" and so many others... how can face this?? also, is there any clue to know weather a verb ending in eru is ichidan or yodan??

Sometimes there is just a change in naunce, somtimes they are completely different words.
kaeru: to return home, to change, frog. however all the different Kanji used to mean 'change' have essentailly the same meaning. Your IME also gives an explanation of them when you go to write it. In that case you just have to learn them. godan verbs ending with eru/iru, you jsut have to learn those too. |

IME is a term for the Microsoft Input Method Editor. It allows Windows users to input characters for languages that don't use roman lettering.

Basically each kanji has some difference in meaning.

創める is not commonly used... the kanji 創 also means to start, but it is only used for starting business - in this case it is close to "to create". e.g. 創立 そうりつ establishment (of a company) 創立1960年 established in 1960 創業 そうぎょう starting the business 創業明治15年 established in Meiji 15

I had this trouble last night when trying to figure out the difference between つくる - 作る and 造る. Both mean 'make' but I think the latter has more of a production nuance.

Yeah, and there's also "創る", which means a more creative work.
But 作る is applicable to almost all situations. |

If you have one, check your 電子辞書 for a dictionary about this stuff. Mine is called 「言葉の作法辞典」 and it quickly became of the most-used functions.
