Japanese Step by Step

I got that book, and it's pretty good. I know it's not the best, and i should get Genki or something, but I'm getting that soon anyways. But before then, I have this book. If anyone has ever used it, can you give me a good way of studying form it, cause I'm have trouble remebering things, just reading isn't helping... If I practice the Kanji in the book, I should know so good kanji, cause I only know a few...anyways, thanks for your comments!

I see Japanese step x step listed along w/ Genki on amazon, which is usually a decent sign... if you believe in the long tail...
