You could just as easily do that in a word processor. Forums are generally for discussions, not for showing yourself big kanji.

At least copy and paste in a way that makes sense so you can receive feedback and hopefully learn something in the process.

私は、TommiがWakanを使用することができると思います 。I don't think it requires IME.

(I hope that sentence is correct )

Tommy try this program:
http://wakan.manga.cz

It should allow you to write in japanese. And it's free.

Having big characters wont help that. You need stroke order diagrams like those on Jim Breens WWWJIDC.

Yeah. Just go to www.wwwjdic.com, go to "Find Kanji in the Database" or whatever, click on that selection type box, select "Kanji (cut-and-paste or IM)", and just copy and paste in the kanji you want. Then click on "Select Kanji" and a little page with info on the kanji will come up. Click on the link that says "SOD" to see a stroke order diagram.

Hi トミー君

Just wanted to let you know that you can very easily make your pc able to use Japanese characters. If you have the original windows CD or like a system reboot disk its on (or the entire windows installation on your pc), you can install Japanese characters.
You just have to go to the configuration screen and then go to .. euhm... don't know the English word actually, but the one with the globe picture. Should be like country settings.. or something.
Well, if you get there, you go to the languages tab and mark the box that says 'install east asian languages'. Then when you press the ok button, the pc will start installing (for which you might need that cd) and afterwards you should be able to use kanji in Word as well.
And if you were to change a few settings, you would also be able to type in Japanese characters.

Hope I could be helpful and not just typed stuff you already knew Good luck anyway

There should be a detailed how-to somewhere on the forum.

Hi Tomii! I have a similar problem to you, in that on my work computer, I don't have the permissions to install any programmes to read different language characters, and I don't have excuse in my job to ask for the IT team to install it for me!
Anyway, I have to learn kanji from home, in that case! I find this site to be helpful:
http://www.csus.edu/indiv/s/sheaa/pr...anji_main.html
It gives you an animated stroke order diagram (if you have Flash player), and examples of related words where the kanji is used. ^^

I found it good so far; I have learned 22 simple kanji in 3 days.
(Although I probably drive people insane by writing them on everything... )

Aw thankyou! ^^ But it will be a long time before I can write in Japanese! O_o I know the hiragana and katakana since ages, but I still haven't found out how to type in Japanese, because I can only do that at home, and I never have time at home. I have only time to go on the internet at work, ironically enough.
I'm enjoying learning kanji though!

lol

This has probably been recommended on here before, but, today I bought the Kodansha Kanji Learner's Dictionary. It's great! I couldn't really afford it, but by the time I'd sat in Waterstone's for about half an hour, absorbed in it, I caved in. I love the way it gives a long list of different examples of how the kanji is used; I look down the examples and I see more new kanji I want to learn... (i.e., "that one looks simple, I wonder what it means?" )

For the United Statians here, buying the Kodansha Furigana dictionary from Amazon: POW! can save you about $22. There's also a J->E only version that's $11 off from Amazon.
