Cultural Activities Visa

Greetings

I'll be heading to Japan on July the second. I have a tentative Job offer and am waiting on the confirmation. Plan B, I plan on enrolling in either a Japanese Language School or a Judo Club. My question is,can I work on a Cultural Activities Visa?Does anyone have any experience with this type of Visa?

They say that feedback is the breakfast of champions, and I'm hungry!

Thanks in advance

Tim

You need to prove you are able to support yourself WITHOUT WORKING to qualify for the visa to begin with. You MAY be able to talk to immigration about 3 months after you have arrived to allow some part time work, probably a maximum of 20hrs a week.

Technically, no, you cannot work on a Cultural Activities Visa.

(PS. Don't do Judo, do Shorinji Kempo!)

Yup, technically you cannot work on a Cultural Activities visa.

But, I know many people on that visa type, who teach English part time independently, and don't report it. Though. This is illegal.
