Words and poetry
I think that Hyde is a poet and one of his masterpieces is Evergreen; but I don't know the words of this song: everyone have the text in japanese of this song? Arigato gozaimasu!

Think most of the people here have heard this single from hyde in 2001.
I like this song very much, so touching, although I dont really what's the meaning of the lyrics, is there anyone who can kindly summarize the meaning? doumo arigatou!!

Evergreen videoclip
In Evergreen videoclip, Hyde is in the cage of a big bird: is he a big bird in a gold cage? I don't know. But the very interesting thing, is in the end of the song, when the camera zoom-out in the hall, there is down the stair a dead man! Who was he? Perhaps Hyde is the angel spirit of a dead man... very sad.

From what Hyde has said about Evergreen, he said he had a friend whose wife had passed away, so he wrote the song as if someone he loved had died.... You know, like putting yourself in someone elses place. He's never really discussed the video concept [or at least I don't think so]
But if you listen to the lyrics... I think you might be right. I think it's a sort of I can't live without you thing. Which would mean that man had taken his life. Of which would explain the whole ghost-like image Hyde is presenting in Evergreen. |

Evergreen is my favorite song of him.. even without understand the meaning of the lyric.. just the song itself transmit a cool and sad emotion.

Yes, Evergreen is currently my favorite Hyde song as well (this isn't counting any of his work with L'Arc~en~Ciel though)...I'm even listening to it right now! I like both versions, they're both very calming, although the English one might be considered by some to be a bit on the boring side...it's a bit more draggy and lacks the extra strings and woodwind instruments in the background...the saxophones in the Japanese version are just so nice...and of course Hyde's voice is absolutely wonderful too!

abit ignorant, how to pronounce the name "hyde"? I saw some ppl saying it as "haido"? but i pronounce it as (in japanese) hi de
