Yutaka Ozaki

Sorry, I haven't checked all the threads, but was wondering if there were any Yutaka Ozaki fans?
I know his songs if I hear them, but am no expert on his song names or albums. Also, I don't speak Japanese so well, so I don't catch all the meanings of his songs. But one I really like is with the hook phrase, "I looooove you."
He is not a singer now, because he committed suicide about 15 or 20 years ago. But, still, I sometimes catch his voice on the radio.
Does anyone know a specific name of a CD that would have all his greatest songs or hits?

Cool, there is a thread about Yutaka Ozaki.
Leon made me remind this guy. He debuted in 1983 with the song "15 no yoru" and stole the hearts of a lot of teenagers in Japan. He made 7 albums and probably his most famous song is "I love you" ...

Yutaka Ozaki passed away on April 25th, 1992, after having been found naked in a Tokyo alleyway. The cause of death was reported as pulmonary edema (excessive fluid in the lungs). He left behind a wife, Shigemi, and a son, Hiro.

OZAKI ROCKS!!
I was quite disappointed with this thread in which no-one recommends Yutaka Ozaki.. But now you've made my day!!

Anyways, one of my fave songs is Seventeen's map. Enjoy.

Ozaki...I was in love with him when I was a teenager, too.
I had ALL of his CDs, he was my dream back then.
When I heard of the sad news that he passed away, I cried my heart out all that day, even during the classes at school and made my classmates and teachers worried. xD
The song I liked the most is Taiyou no Hahen (A piece of the Sun??).
He seldom appeared on TV, so it's a rare video, I think.

Legendary rocker.

Ah, I've heard some of his songs! My ex was a fan of his and used to sing his stuff in karaoke sometimes. He's pretty good imo! I should find out some more of his songs...

Utada's version of "I love you" is good, too.

Oh your ex sang his song very well? That's sugoi!
I love his songs too and have tried to sing his "I love you" at Karaoke before, but it was so hard! I even saw Utada Hikaru messing up the words and going off beat when she was singing one of his songs ( I can't remember which song though, some slow one.) and she had to try again from the beginning of the song being embarrassed. That was cute though!

Well, everyone, let's sing his famous song "I love you" together!
I ruuuube youuuuuuu~~~~~

WAHAHAHAHA! That's a good one, leon!!

For the people who have no idea why it's so funny.
The original lyric goes like:

I love you, ima dake ha kanashii uta, kiki taku nai yo~.
(I love you, I don't want to listen to a sad song now.)

But leon was like:
I love you, ima dake ha onchi na uta kiki taku nee yo~~
(I love you, I don't want to listen to bad singing now~~~)

here is I love you

I really need to learn the text of this song because I am can only say the I love you part and nogare nogare haha.

The lyrics in romanji, and the translation of the song.

Romaji

I love you ima dake ha kanashii uta kikitakunai yo
I love you nogare nogare tadoritsuita kono heya
nanimokamo yurusareta koi jyanai kara
futari ha maru de suteneko mitai
kono heya ha ochiba ni umoreta akibako mitai
dakara omae ha koneko no you na nakigoe de
kishimu beddo ue de yasashisa wo mochi yori
kitsuku karada dakishimeaeba
sore kara mata futari ha me wo tojiru yo
kanashii uta ni ai ga shirakete shimanu you ni

I love you wakasugiru futari ai ni ha furarenu himitsu ga aru
I love you ima no kurahsi no naka de ha tadoritsukenai
hitotsu ni kasanari ikiteyuku koi wo
yume mite kizutsuku dake no futari da yo
nando mo aishiteru tte kiku omae ha
kono ai nashi de ha ikite sae yukenai to
kishimu beddo no ue de yasashisa wo mochi yori
kitsuku karada dakishimeaeba
sore kara mata futari ha me wo tojiru yo
kanashii uta ni ai ga shirakete shimanu you ni

sore kara mata futari ha me wo tojiru yo
kanashii uta ni ai ga shirakete shimanu you ni

Translation

I LOVE YOU
Please, I don't wanna hear a sad song right now
I LOVE YOU
Run away, Run away, it's this room I found myself in
Our love had its limitations
so we're like abandoned stray cats * 1
this room is like our empty box, buried in fallen leaves
that's why you cry out like a kitten
we bring naivety to the creaky bed,
when we hold each other tightly,
then we'll close our eyes again,
and hope that our love doesn't lose its passion in a sad song.

I LOVE YOU
there's a secret which our love, too young, can't reach.
I LOVE YOU
living the way we do now, we'll never get there
We just hurt each other,
dreaming of a love living as one
You've heard 'I love you' so many times,
you can't live without this love.
we bring naivety to the creaky bed,
when we hold each other tightly,
then we'll close our eyes again,
and hope that our love doesn't lose its passion in a sad song.

then we'll close our eyes again,
and hope that our love doesn't lose its passion in a sad song.

Translated By: Brian Stewart & Takako Sakuma

Translator's Notes: Let's get to the *

In our interpretation of these lines Ozaki is saying that because he and his girl are both young their options are limited by the world at large (their parents, society), so they end up in this box like abandoned kittens. Nowhere to go.
