Housing in Tokyo For International Students
Hello!
I'm new to the forum, I came across it in passing as I was looking some things up online. Everyone seems to be quite gracious and gives pretty helpful answers, so I thought I'd ask a couple of things, regarding studying in Japan. I'll be studying at Sophia University in Tokyo starting September (Autumn Semester), and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any reasonable housing/dorms? I'm looking for a place to live that is near yotsuya (ie, inside tokyo, or somewhere that won't take me an hour to commute to school), that has single rooms, good security, and serves meals. I'm not picky about the space of the room, and don't mind a common (public) bathing area. Also, would anyone know if it will be difficult to apply for financial aid or for a scholarship from either a foundation/private organization once I'm enrolled at Sophia? I've been told that as long as I do well (I'm an undergraduate student) I may be able to get one easily. I'd like to hear what others think on this. Any information will be very helpful and much appreciated! よろしくおねがいします〜!

Sophia doesn't provide its students with housing, or even information about housing around campus? That sounds a bit odd...

I found the company that runs student dorms in the Tokyo area. It is also recommended by Sophia University:
http://www.gakuseikaikan.com/english/index.html Another well-know operation (Japanese only): http://www.kenbunroku.com/ Sophia-recommended dorms (Japanese only): http://www.gakuseikaikan.com/dp/soph...sen_joshi.html Expenses for these dorms are reasonable by Tokyo standards. If you think it is still too high, you'll have to go looking at sharing apartments. Hope it helps!
