hmm, i don't know about CD's and all that, and the only groups i know are local, but just popping in to say taiko is amazing... i had the privelige of listening to it every night live before going on stage and it completely made my performance... its so powerful and awe-inspiring and you just cant reproduce taiko live!

Maybe you have a look at youtube first?

There are so many, that I don't know, what to choose for you.

The Sado school alone is a longer story, some friends of friends have been there some time ago, but to be honest, there are many local groups all over Japan. If you are from Belgium, you may find some there too. In Germany we now have several ones growing, in case you feel like attending.
The best would be to ask for a kind of Belgium/Japanese society in your case (to my knowledge, you have one, but I don't know their exact name). They usually can tell you, where to go. Or you contact your Japanese Embassy directly, they are also very happy to pass on in general!

I am not an expert here but I can definately recomend Mugenkyo Takio drummers. I saw them perform in my home town a while back and they did a stunning performance. They also do workshops. Although based in the UK I think they do tour in Europe. They also have CDs. I agree with dakkii, though, nothing can be the same as their lives.

There's the website for more information:

I only have one CD of Taiko. It is Oedo Sukeroku Taiko and it is called The Drums of Tokyo. I bought it off Amazon, but their are a few videos on YouTube.
I quite like Taiko, as I find it good background music when doing various things.

Yamato on Youtube

I just looked on Youtube and there are some really good examples of Yamato in concert - brought back great memories of a really really enjoyable nights entertainment, but the sound is too quiet on the videos

I saw Joji Hirota and his taiko drummers in a really tiny theater near me. It was an awesome experience. They were all very skilled... and got us singing traditional Japanese songs... I still find myself singing one a few weeks later. Here's their website if any one wants to check them out http://www.jojihirota.com/en/frame.html

hehe you guys must think I live at taiko concerts! lols!

I'm partial to Bonten because Bonten's leader is the sensei of my old Taiko group's leader at undergrad. Kodo is another very famous taiko group.

Kodo

The Kodo Taiko group looks awesome. Check out this promo vid from youtube.

That vid couldn't be embedded, but this vid of a taiko performance by a different group in New Zealand could.
