Repeat kidnapper hurls kid off bridge
OSAKA (Kyodo) A 3-year-old boy was seriously injured Wednesday when a repeat kidnapper grabbed him and dropped him off an overpass onto a road from a height of 6.4 meters in Yao, Osaka Prefecture, police said.
Police arrested Ichiro Yoshioka, 41, in the attempted murder of Rion Nishida. Yoshioka admitted assaulting the boy and said, "I felt frustrated with my job and was feeling irritated," according to police. The boy and his 59-year-old grandmother were on their way to a train station after shopping when he was assaulted, suffering injuries that include a broken leg. Police said Yoshioka had been involved in at least six kidnappings mostly targeting young children, including the brief abduction of a 2-year-old boy in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, in March 2000, for which he was sentenced to 22 months in prison. According to police and witnesses, Yoshioka was selling confectionery with friends near the overpass, which connects the station and a bus terminal, before the incident. Yoshioka suddenly grabbed the boy and dropped him from the overpass without saying anything, they said. |

WTF is right. Laws there are different from here. If someone did that to my niece because they were frustrated at their job, I'd like to see how they'd like being frustrated at never being able to walk again.

Ironic isn't it? Justice sometimes is not served here in Japan in the manner that is equal to the crime commited.

The news progams at the time said the man was disabled and sometimes lacked the rational ability to see the implications of his actions. He was under supervision and attended a daycare vocational centre.
If so, this would put the responsibiity on the authorities who were supposed to prevent any more incidents like this. I don't think breaking his legs would prevent him from doing the same again. |

Touche. Those people are equally responsible for the near-death of the child.

How wouldn't have lived to kidnap his second victim. Because here in Singapore, the judge would have stretched his neck with a piece of rope.

That punishment was nowhere near good enough. If the guy did it because he was frustrated, then he is clearly psychotic and needs to be locked up to prevent him from doing this kind of damage again next time he can't get his "soldier" up. It's just stupid! Althogugh, I am not going to insult the Japanese Legal system, considering the state of the prison situation in the UK at the moment.
