Whale-Love Seminar by Greenpeace
:::: Whale-Love Seminar ::::
"The Influence of Japan's Foreign Aid to My Country" - Why do Caribbean Nations Support Japanese Whaling? - Main Speaker: Mr. Atherton Martin Former Minister of Environment in Dominica The Winner of Goldman Environmental Prize Date: May 19th (Sat) Time: 14:00 - 16:00 Admission fee: Free of charge (Registration not required) Location: Tokyo Women's Plaza Hole (Shibuya, Tokyo) 5-53-67 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0001 Phone: 03-5467-1711 Fax: 03-5467-1977 Access: 7 minutes walk from Omotesando station on the Ginza, Hanzomon and Chiyoda lines English and Japanese interpretation is available. It has been said that Japan is buying votes in the International Whaling Commission (IWC) to increase the number of the countries who support Japanese whaling in return for Japan's financial aid to developing countries in the Caribbean, Pacific and Africa. Before the IWC is held in Alaska in the end of this month, Greenpeace is hosting a seminar inviting Mr. Atherton Martin. Mr Martin is the former Minister of Agriculture, Planning and the Environment of Dominica, who resigned his position in 2000 while he was attending the IWC as a Minister, because the government of Dominica stopped him voting for the Southern Hemisphere Whale Sanctuary proposal as a result of pressure from the Japanese Government. In this seminar, we will explore the issue of the vote buying by sharing the experience of Mr. Martin as a Minister of Dominica. The seminar will be interpreted for Japanese and English. And the admission is free of charge. If you are interested in the whaling issue, please join us in the seminar!! Also, a new animation film called "Man and Whale" created for Greenpeace by Koji Yamamura, the Academy award nominated and leading animator in the world, will be shown in the seminar for the first time in public! Illegal Harassment and Terrorism against ICR Research
(The Institute of Cetacean Research page) Are they any different from militants in Baghdad, they too believe that they have been conducting holy mission against the evil enemy therefore they are exempt from the rules of society. |

Anti-whaling is not the majority world-view. Many fishing nations including Norway, Denmark, China, Korea, Russia and Iceland, as well as many tribes in North America and developing countries support the sustainable use of all marine resources including whales.
What Greenepeace is forgetting is that many Caribian countries have a whaling tradition like Japan. |
