Just wanted to profess my love for Kaela Kimura's music. I wasn't really into Japanese music until I ran into her stuff. I'm not a lyrics person, I think they can be important but usually the song, the flow of the music, the breaks, the structure and composition are what keep a listener happy, especially because its usually background accompaniment to some other task like work, driving, cooking, etc. My Japanese isn't good so I can't understand them anyway.
Her songs really impress me because they don't have (to my ears) those predictable structures, breakdowns and token production qualities that music in the west has. It doesn't sound over-produced. Seems really 'organic'.
Two thumbs up for KK.
