World Cup Impressions

Opening ceremony

While half a billion of worldwide spectators followed the World Cup opening ceremony, a lot viewers in Japan were angry and dissatisfied with NHK's broadcast. Instead of focusing on the ceremony itself they interviewed Japanese who were present in the stadium. "Envy" and "rudeness", as some commentators noted?

I've watched the ceremony which was quite impressive. Still nothing compared to what Madeleine Albright was shown in Pyongyang in 2000.

Ticketing

Is FIFA to blame for the ticketing? Despite World Cup fever most stadiums are half empty.

What kind of server is the company using that FIFA used to sell tickets through?

All kinds of reports that users can't access the site have been in the news for days now.

Sapporo had 10,000 open seats the first game. It was pretty bad to see open areas all over the stadium. FIFA claimed that those seats couldn't be sold since they don't afford good views, and that the stadium is designed for baseball.

oh my gosh, Apparently, Sapporo has the only stadium where the pitch weighing some 300 tons can be moved outside for airing and sun.
jee, a double usage stadium might not be the best for soccer, but come on. Seating up in the rafters isn't the best place either.

Imagine all the folks sitting outside watching the game on TV. I'm sure they would've taken the seats if they had a chance.

I think all the folks who didn't get a ticket due to poor ticketing should group together and bring forth a class action suit.
