Work visa for japan -"A" levels?

Hi ,

I was just see-ing if you want a work visa for japan do you have to have a unversity degree or is college "A" levels and courses good enought. I have seen many threads about this but its mostly been on about american peoples way to get there. Also does anyone know "british" sites about this , i have checked all other the net and couldnt find anything.

Anyways any help would be appreciated.

Most people I have met who teach English at language schools seem pretty convinced that you need a degree. However I met a guy a few weeks ago from England who had arrived in Japan and got a job (and I guess visa sponsorship) from a school and he didn't have a degree. He just called in at a few schools until he found one that was desperate for teachers.

I checked with another friend from England and he said he had to send his degree certificate to the Japanese embassy in London and didn't actually get it back until he arrived in Japan.

I am guessing that perhaps the degree is required for an International Service visa (sometimes called a humanities visa) which is the one most English teachers have. However there are a lot of other types of visas you can get. You need to do a specific job, or marry a Japanese to qualify for them though!!!

Thanks alot m8 for the help, that has shed light onto it. But to work a places like Nova you have to get a barchelor's degree as it says on the website. ummmm so it depends on what job you get, if you need a degree or not?? Or you def need a degree

I also heard that most companies need you to have a degree to sponsor you. But i know with specific jobs you may not need.

I am going to be into the engineering business, so most likely ill need a university degree to do engineering over in japan.

I believe this is correct, you definitely need a degree for Nova or any of the big chain schools.

I am looking into engineering jobs in japan. Such as civil or electrical Anyone know of any company's? ill have to check on how visa works for that job aswell.

Anyways ill end this topic thanks for all help all. I am doing engineering at college, and when i done that i am going to university to learn japanese. This is a 4 year course and in my 2nd year of study i study in japan for a year. But ill be going to japan a few times before that.

I would try and look for engineering, or transllation jobs, but of course this is all in the future =-D
