High School Exchange Opportunity--Bringing Japanese Students to the U.S.

I realize I'm posting in the section about Education in Japan, but I believe some of the regulars here may have connections in Japan to high schools and high school age students.

I'm writing on behalf of the non-profit group, Kobe College Corporation-Japan Education Exchange (please do a search for KCC-JEE to find our website, as I can't post a link here) to advertise one of our programs: a high school exchange, bringing students from Japan to the U.S. to study for a semester or a full school year.

KCC-JEE has the ability to do the J-1 visa paperwork to bring high school students to the U.S. and we are looking for interested parties. If you know a high school in Japan who might be interested in sending a student, I'd be delighted if you would ask them to contact me.

The fee we charge is $2500, plus airfare, insurance and spending money. Compared to other programs, some of which charge up to $10,000, we feel this is quite reasonable. As a non-profit organization, our goal is to facilitate cross-cultural exchange, not to make money.

One of the stipulations of the program is that a KCC-JEE board member live within 250 miles of the student. We currently have board members in Chicago, Minneapolis, Davis (California), Bowling Green (Kentucky), Boston, New York City, Michigan, New Jersey and Indiana.

Unfortunately, this is not a true exchange, as we have no ability to help arrange for American students to study in Japan.

If you know anyone (either a high school teacher/principal in Japan) or a Japanese high school student (or family of) who might be interested in this opportunity, please pass along the information.

As I noted in the original post, KCC-JEE is a non-profit organization. The cost of the program which is significantly less than for-profit organizations like AFS charge, recoups our initial investment to get the J-1 visa granting status; complete the visa paperwork; and covers costs for a part-time employee to do things like process criminal background checks on host families, fax transcripts of grades to host schools, etc.

I like your post. Because I wish to visit Japan and want to study there because Japan is very good with education. Is anyone Guide me about the school system of japan ?

What is very good about Japan's educational system, in your mind? Horrible English ability. Decreasing ability to use applied math and science, let alone plain old Japanese. Kids grow up afraid to ask questions. College students mostly coast through 4 years and get hired only because of the name of the school, not because of any grades. Teachers let 10-25% of students sleep in class and let them pass.

Do you want to know about the High School Exchange program in Japan?
1,866 high school students from other countries studied for more than 3 months in Japan.
But unfortunately, no student was from you country.

This is not about the high school, but 10 people were selected for the J government sponsored scholarship.
It is good to ask the J embassy in your country for more info.
