Japanese Pop from 1973-1975
Hello all,
I lived in Tokyo from late 1973 through mid-1975 and practically learned Japanese from watching the Japanese variety shows on TV. For sentimental reasons, I'll like to find CDs and videos of performers from that era but I hardly remember any names and titles. Please help me rediscover who was really popular on TV during that time period? I still remember a few names: Four Leaves, Julie, Goro, Agnes Chan... Thanks! |

Here's a link to a compilation CD sold on the Japanese Amazon site. You can listen to samples of all the tunes on it, so why don't you give a listen and see if you recognize any of them?

Thanks for Amazon link
Thanks, Ashikaga. I gave it a listen and immediately recognized tracks 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18 from disk 1. Can you tell me what they are? I never learned to read Kanji.

13 : Kimi No Hitomi Wa Ichi-man Boruto / Takao Horiuchi
15 : Hohoemi Gaeshi / Candies 16 : Mr. Summertime / Circus 17 : Miserarete / Judy Ong 18 : Young Man / Hideki Saijou If you're into the music from this era, you should stop by when one of our members Pachipro hosts his weekly Japanese Oldies room on Paltalk. He has a vast library of songs from the 70s and the 80s (with some older & newer stuff thrown in) and he has all those tunes on the list above. He may even give you tips as to which compilations to get and how to get them. |
