Alright, I have found some more interesting material about U.S. bases in Japan.
First of all, see the petition of the Okinawan governor in regard to a possible revision of the Japan-U.S. Status of Force Agreement. Check out the web site of the Okinawa Prefecture for more articles and outlines. Then, there's an article by the Japanese Communist Party entitled Problems of U.S. Military Bases in Okinawa ( a .pdf file, worth reading!). Last not least, an older artcile by The Atlantic Online, entitled Japan: Let Them Defend Themselves. All in all, a well-balanced, good read. Don't call us biased!

Found the web sites of two Okinawan grass-root organizations struggling against the U.S. military presence on the islands:
=> Nago-Okinawa Peace Cyber Circle => Red Card Movement |
