it's one of my favorite foods. i like the hiroshima-style better than the osaka-style though, but they're both awesome.

Well I'm not an okonomiyaki lover, but some of the following sites look interesting. They're well-known franchise, etc.
Osaka style: Boteju Chibo Tsuruhashi Fugetsu Hiroshima style: Mitchan Okonomi Village Otafuku Sauce

Once had the wife make me this after she told me what it was. She says alot of students make this when money gets tight. But with the mayo and the right sauce its great!. I keep asking her to make it but she doesn't. We keep getting traditional japanese food instead. Mind ya. not that I am complaining. Sushi will never get old in my place. (Once bought a tray with over 55 of them. all different types and they did not last long.)

This is definately #1 on my list of to-try things but every Japanese resturant I call or have eaten at doesn't know what I am talking about when I ask for it. Wierd.

Maybe you can order a box at wholesale price from this site or other sites. I am sure some wholesalers sell Calbee's Potato Chips online by boxes. |

But if you can find an authentic izakaya type place they might serve it.

It sounds like this is a pretty easy thing to make, though I've never done it. I want to try making it, but no matter how easy it is I know I'll prolly mess it up lol. There is a recipe here: http://japanesefood.about.com/librar...konomiyaki.htm
there are also other recipes, but because I don't anything about these, they might not be good recipes. |
