A recent ILO report confirms the finding of IOM:
Quote: Japan is reported to be the largest market in the Far East for non-Japanese women in the sex trade, with some 150,000 mainly Asian women involved. There is no age disaggregation in these statistics and they very likely include girls below 18 years of age. The Japanese Immigration Bureau, Ministry of Justice, reports that such illicit movement and entry to Japan is arranged by international crime organizations, which are often violent and heavily implicated in exploitation, debt accrual and the forging of documents. http://www.ilo.org/public/english/st...unbearable.pdf The japanese sex-trade is shurely much worse than most like to believe. There is a tendency of romantizing the soaplands etc. We are talking about degrading treatment of women, and even children as well as human traficking. |

Japan has some of the worst cases of human trafficking. This isn't all that surprising. Alot of the women that are trafficked to Japan are usually Thai. What's saddening about this, is that once the women realized they've been tricked, there isn't really anything they can do. They can't go to the authorities for help because they're basically illegal aliens, so they're trapped. What makes this worse, is that Japan is a country where sexual exploitation is almost accepted. Sadly, human trafficking is still being ignored.

I posted twice under that thread about "soaplands". However I am amased that people writing there seem so much more concerned if some prostitutes are not available for foreigners, rather than wether it is socially acceptable for men to use and abuse women who are often traficked by criminals who sell them, like any other illicit comodity like drugs and guns.

I fully support what the gorvenment is doing now, such as her intolerant policy on "entertainment visa" for hostesses. |

Sad actually, she sent almost all of the money she received back to support her family.

A guy I met on a tour in Japan two years ago met an escort girl who is Thai-Chinese. She also was sending money to her family in Thailand which included two kids. Weird part of the story: he married her and they have a child of their own. Her kids in Thailand were brought over and now they are all living in the U.S. Last edited by ArmandV; Aug 6, 2006 at 02:01. Reason: misspelled word |

I guess that's a happy ending, the majority of the women who are trafficked see no possibility of escape. And as far as getting paid goes? They're either paid very little or nothing at all. Most of these women are kept in isolation.

This is the shame story of Japanese society.
Actualy, Japanese Government tighten the Visa issuing condition to Women from Asia contries like China, Korea, Thai, and Philipine to be responsible for people trafficking, resulting the number of Visa Issuing is dropped 1/100 or more. However, people in those contries conplain about it, and request own government to loosen the regulation since they want to go and work in Japan. I "guess" that many of them are happy to be in Japan, since they doesn't have to be prostitute, and they can make a money, and send it to home. Only small number of women with bad cordinator get in trouble and stack with prostitution. Or, Many of them understand they have to work at Sex industries, since they can make a money and send it to home. Only small number of women get in trouble with bad cordinator or Yakuza. I think Japan police needs to investigate bad cordinator and Yakuza to stop Asian women stucked with Sex industories, but support asian coutries to help poverty issues too. Not like "Enjo-Kosai", many asian women have to sell theirself to live. |

Itīs just a question of who has the money to buy the women and girls "sold".
Itīs a simular case in Germany ,because the people here are ,although we are in an economic repression right now, have quite a bit more money ,than most of the countries around especially poland and czechslovakia there is a market for young cheap sexlabour and itīs the same in Japan I could imagine ,that itīs not that much different with hispanics in the USA.
