hmm well first off, i cant read most of what you said cuz i know almost no kanji. sorry. also after that there is a ton of the stuff that happens to me when i e-mailed someone with a font they didn't have. its really weird.

I hope we can figure it out soon! The only thing part that is legible on my end is the first line. One mistake I did notice is that "hajimemashite" should be the other kanji....but I'm afraid to type it out here and keep this bug going.

As I've said elsewhere you really should state what Browser, OS and Encoding you are using when you have problems like that. Otherwise it makes it much harder to sort out.

I can tell that you're text is Japanese (ISO-2022-JP) - known as Japanese (JIS) in Internet Explorer. This cannot be specifically selected to display in IE - although it can be selected by Japanese (Auto-select) if there is no other Japanese encoding used in the thread. (Therefore I can tell that Elizabeth is not using Internet Explorer).

If you look at the source of your text you'll note the following section
[...])!J$&quot;$-!K$+[...] This is a typical error in forum code - it has made a " character 'web-safe' by turning it into &quot;. However because Japanese encoded text is double-byte what it has actually done is mangled half of a character.

but here's a summary:
1. Disable smilies when posting with Japanese.
2. You can display & enter Japanese text if you are using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firebird with Windows XP. I don't know about other browser / OS combinations.
3. If you want to view text entered in Japanese (Shift-JIS) or Japanese (EUC) you have to select the encoding manually.
4. Until it is clear under exactly what circumstances the &quot; error occurs it is best to enter your text so that it appears as &#NNNNN;&#NNNNN;&#NNNNN; (N = number) as this form will not be affected by that particular bug. In Windows XP / IE this is now the default encoding (as the default display encoding is Western European (ISO).).
