I've always thought US date format is pretty stupid. I prefer yyyy-mm-dd because that way it sorts in the correct order even in text format. |

Possibly you'd be better off with 'shusshin' 出身 【しゅっしん】 (n) (1) person's origin (town, city, country, etc.); (2) institution from which one graduated; (3) director in charge of employee relations; (P)

Perhaps UK/Europeans order of speech is different? Do they say "4th of March"? That would explain the difference. Neither way is stupid, imo. I just wish we could configure it like other boards allow. Or, if it has to be hard-coded, why not go with the Japanese format? This is a Japanese-related board after all...

With yyyy-mm-dd you can have useful things like 2004-03-1x (for a date between 10th and 19th) and still have them sort into a sensible position. For another thing having Year Month Day gives you a nice orderly progression from largest unit to smallest unit. |

I already said I prefer yyyy-mm-dd and that I like it better. But does that format being better make mm-dd-yyyy stupid? Is it more or less stupid than the format this board uses (dd-mm-yy)?
