Meaning/explanation of some kanji
I was trying to translate some of the kanji that was posted in this post:
http://www.jref.com/forum/showpost.p...2&postcount=10 In the first sentence I saw these kanji: 事実無根 Babelfish gave the meaning 'Factual non root'. That didn't mean anything to me so then I decided to look up the individual Kanji en thought maybe a better explanation of 事実無根 would be 'rumour' (事実 = fact, 無根 = without root/source?? --> a fact without a source = rumour). I'm I thinking the right way here or am I wrong? ![]() -edit- url to post and should learn to use cut and paste better -edit-

Next time I'll wake up first before I post questions like this ![]() And I know I shouldn't use babelfish, but I didn't have anything else and I thought it made sense. Kanji dictionary is on it's way to me right now ![]() My dictionary uses 噂 for rumour. Does that have a different meaning then 事実無根? |
