Lol, webmasters live in this strange world of page hits, total hits, unique visitors, referrers... they are in love with stats. Stats are rewarding.

Anyhow, link popularity just tells you how many pages link back to your web site. Most search engine algos rank pages also according to their popularity, the logic being that the more pages link to a site the more popular it's supposed to be. Geek stuff.
