    Specialist/Residency in Japan

    国際交流パーティー - Tokyo International Party

    Good morning/afternoon/evening,

My name is Kevin Leonard Suryadinata, i am an Indonesian medical student in my 3rd year. First, i want to say sorry for sending this email. I do not know am i send this to the right place, because it is so hard to find any contact person.

I am very interested in continuing my postgraduate education to become a specialist in Japan. I have some questions:

    1. How do one (Japan student, not an international student) can apply to undergo a specialist education/residency after graduating from undergraduate degree (M.D.)?

    2. After i graduate around 3-4 years again, i will take the National Licensing Examination and if i pass i will get the license to practice in my country. Based on this news http://www.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2...16-263784.html, i do not have to take Japanese National License Examination to be qualified in Japan and take the specialist training. Is it true?

    3. If i already have a license to practice in my country and i want to apply into Japan universities to take a residency/training to be specialist, what are the steps i should do for foreigner? Do i have to be fluent in Japanese language? (i will take Japanese language course next semester)

    4. Right now i am interested to become a Ophthalmologist, Surgeon, Psychiatrist, and Anesethesiologist. Can you recommend some universities that have this majors/training? Because in my country, not all university/hospital can provide training in all fields.

I really need this information. I already have asked to so many forums and persons, but neither of them can make a conclusive answer. Thank you for your time and attention for reading this through the end, i hope you can help me. Sorry for my english because this is not my mother language, but i still working on it.
    Again, thank you!

    Regards,
    Kevin Leonard Suryadinata
