...need some help on this one. I read that the artist Hokusai invented the word manga, combined by two chinese signs 'Man' and 'ga' - .. 'ga' means picture...but what does 'Man' mean???
please help!!!

Konnichiwa Lotion-san!

Yes, "Ga" means picture. And "Man" means "wayward", "willfulness", "haphazard", "random", "unrestricted" and "freely".
"Manga" means freely picture without formality.

Nangi-san, have you created that illustration? That's a fantastic job!

the "Man" in chinese means "slow" or that's my understanding of it. But I don't think Lotion was interested in the chinese translation heh

Yes, I created the illustration. Writing Kanji is not difficult to me, but English is more hard.:D

Of course Man(窶毒ク) has meaning "slow" in Japan too. But usually we use another Man(窶督? in meaning "slow".
