The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is a standard test to measure once the Japanese language provenience test. The test is being held twice a year, throughout Japan and various countries.

Passing the JLPT, especially level 1 and 2, can be a big help in finding a non-teaching job in Japan. In some cases, it is also used as a reference for "examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students" (EJU).

There are 5 levels, with the lowest being N5 and the highest N1. Each level exists of 3 sections; kanji and vocabulary, reading comprehension and grammar and listening comprehension.

To register for the test, you can buy the test guide applications forms at the larger bookshops in Japan, or you can visit the official JLPT website.
