Windows 10 - the good the bad , the ugly.

My W7 updated to W10 without my permission and I wasn't brave enough to attempt to stop it for fear I would have to restore to factory settings. I've heard about a lot of problems but my upgrade took about 2 hours and I didn't have any trouble. Kind of glad my laptop took the decision out of my hands.

You know.. I think there's an option to go back from W10 to 7 valid till a month after the install. So if it did happen recently, you could go back to W7 if you wanted.

I didnt know that was an option but that would have expired for me now. To be honest W10 isn't too bad once you've worked your way through the new interface.

After reading Thomas's post, I went into the Settings menu and shut off most of the data gathering options (mostly things that link your MS account with other applications, and things that allow them to target advertising to you). I'm kind of amazed it booted up so quickly with all those applications linking up to each other. You'd think there would be a bottleneck of data occurring somewhere after the PC links to the internet, but it booted pretty quickly. Should be even faster now that I've shut off all that background noise. Still haven't tried "Cortana", but I think I'll give it a pass.
