Pan, a piece of bread riding a mechanical toaster armor, must rescue the 7 members of the Breasistance from Doctor Dough, an organic parasite which can take control over any domestic appliance.

Super Toaster X is a RPG game to learn Japanese vocabulary. It was mostly inspired by the Darkest Dungeon (exploration phase) and Super Mario RPG franchise (combat phase).

So... how does it all work anyway?

I've thought gaming and Japanese learning could go well together and I've daydreamed about putting something together over the years. But other priorities intervened. I was always thinking something more practical and learning oriented than gaming oriented like this. In any case it looks cool and I hope you do well.

Well I'll tell you my brilliant idea since I will likely never put it into practice. I was thinking of scenario based challenges like navigating the airport, reading signs to get from plane to train, etc. The focus would be more on travelers who need to survive a trip to Japan than language learners. The idea was to learn the really important symbols (like 女 vs 男 when looking for a bathroom). etc. Of course, advanced levels could get into more advanced language learning scenarios. I had more of puzzle/challenge kind of feel in mind as opposed to an RPG.
 
Oh it's very different than mine actually. Too bad you won't get into it. Game design is a lot of work but it's... well... fun!

I'm currently working on a dojo area where players can practice before jumping into the fray on a dummy. It wouldn't make sense for the player to face ennemies right away.

Why was this moved to Crowdfunding? Could it be moved back to learning Japanese please, I've removed the Patreon from the first message (actually it turns out I can't edit my first message, so if a mod could do it). Also, is it possible to be informed whenever a topic is moved please?
