Ebisu b

Ebisu is one of those places Tokyoites would like to live in. It has great shopping and dining, good nightlife and is close enough to Shibuya to walk, with more elegance and without the crowds.

Lot's of expats live in the area. For the occasional visitor, the Atre department store has both fashionable clothes and nicely decorated Italian, Chinese and Japanese restaurants on the 6th floor. Don't miss the delicious "Kobeya" (_ˉ) bakery on the 3rd floor, just at the top of the escalator.

Following the "conveyor belts" from the JR station at the 3rd floor of Atre, you will reach Ebisu Garden Place. You can see a French chateau replica hosting the upmarket French restaurant Taillevent-Robuchon. On one side is Mitsukoshi Department Store, and opposite the 38-floor Yebisu Garden Place Tower, hosting the Westin Tokyo Hotel. If you are feeling hungry, go up to the restaurants on the 37th or 38th floor and admire the panorama from there. On a clear day, the eye can see as far as Mount Fuji and Yokohama. Both floors are exquisitely decorated with Classical Greek frescoes, and restaurants are surprisngly affordable.

Daikanyama ㊯R

This hilly residential area is one of the poshest place in Tokyo. Designer boutiques and French cafes are cuddled up in little houses. No skyscrapers or hordes disturb the peacefulness of Daikanyama.
