One of the 3 large centers of Western Tokyo, Ikebukuro attracts predominantly people from Northern Tokyo and Saitama. It boasts two of the largest department stores in Japan : Seibu and Tobu. Add to this the Marui and Parco department stores for clothes, then Sakuraya and Bic Camera for electronics, and Ikebukuro won't disappoint you when it comes to shopping.
There are few touristical sights in Ikebukuro. The streets tend to be dirty, and the excess of noisy Pachinko parlours and dubbious adult entertainment might deter some people. But the Sunshine City tower makes up for it with its huge aquarium and impressive views of the city from its 60th floor and 240m.
