Pros: realistic, show life in Japanese countryside
Cons: too ordinary story, a bit boring, unattractive characters

Pros: characters that are emotionally accessible
Cons: none for me

A story about discovering oneself, about growing up, about how personal joys and sorrows are both bigger and smaller than we perceive them to be at the time . . . this is life as it is, told through people that are both strangers and yet familiar to us at the same time.

The characters of this film are perhaps the most 'normal' and 'human' of any Studio Ghibli story, and thus, while not involving any grand or magical adventures, Omohide Poro Poro tugs at my heart and mind even more-so than the normally touching Studio Ghibli fare. One of my favorite films . . .
