Part of the Aeon group, Jusco is one of Japan's largest supermarket chain, with 290 branches in Japan, 15 in China, 10 in Thailand and 9 in Malaysia.
The company started in 1758, when Sozaemon Okada established Okadaya. Soichiro Okada restructured it into a joint stock company in 1926, then JUSCO was established in 1969 as a joint purchasing organization through joint venture of Okadaya, Futagi, and Shiro.
Daiei is famous for sponsoring the Fukuoka Hawks baseball team in addition to its 277 supermarkets around Japan. The company is based in Kobe and employs over 10,000 people. Although it is present in almost every prefecture, most of its branches are in high-populated Kanto as well as Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka prefectures.
