Alternative Reading Material Online

Hello everyone!
As some of you may or may not to know, I have been trying to read video games in order to learn Japanese for a while.
I wanted to try to find other reading material for beginners and share it with the rest of you.
News Web Easy
Link: Click here.
This website provides succinct Japanese texts with not only furigana but also listening comprehension:

An example of an article found on the website.
*Note that you can also turn off the furigana by clicking the button on the right (漢字の読み方をけす).

You'll probably notice words in certain colors in the text. The three colors in the picture above provide definition for their respective counterparts in the actual text.
In other words, the word in blue (熊本城) refers to the name of company (group).

Attempting to Understand the Article
I'd like to understand part of that article which I'll attempt to translate here. What I'd like is to have other beginners participate in this exercise but we'll see how that goes.
熊本市で20日の夕方、有名な城の熊本城にある元太鼓櫓という建物が倒たおれて壊こわれていることがわかりました。
I'll first try to parse the sentence in small chunks where possible:
熊本市(1)で(2)20日の夕方(3),
*
(1) 熊本市: a definition is provided in the text as: 国くにや県けん、町まち、場所ばしょなどの名前 which means the name of a place such as a village or a prefecture.
According to
wikipedia, a prefecture is the first level of jurisdiction and administrative division in Japan.
A google search reveals that 熊本市 is located on the southwest part of Japan:

(2): で: 助詞: placed after a noun, it indicates where an action takes place, in this 熊本市.
(3): 20 is followed by 日 and the noun connector の and finally 夕方. 日 in this case refers to the day of the month as its reading is か which we can find out by looking at the furigana. 夕方 on the other hand refers to the "evening".
So I would translate the part preceding the comma would read along the lines of:
At Kumamoto, on the evening of the 20th...(something happened).
The rest of the sentence is written as one big long sentence. I'll still try to parse it a bit:
有名な城(4)の熊本城(5)にある [...]
(4): 有名な城: this is a combination of a na-adjective (有名な:famous) which defines 城(castle). So a famous castle.
(5):にある: exists for inanimate object
So there's a famous castle...
(6): 元太鼓櫓という: 元太鼓櫓 is the name of the castle, もとたいこやぐら. という means "called named".
建物が(7): 建物 is a building while が is a 助詞 (particle) which indicates that build is the subject of the sentence.
倒れて(8)壊れている(9)こと(10)が(11)わかりました(12)。
(8): 倒れて: is the ~て form of the verb 倒れる, "to collapse".
(9): 壊れて: is the ~て form of the verb 壊れる, "to break" followed by the auxiliary いる.
(10):こと: nominalizer
(11): が: 助詞: perhaps here it is there to follow a noun phrase. I'm not 100% sure on this one.
(12): わかりました: the past polite form of わかる which here refers "to be found out".
So all in all:
On the 20th at night in the prefecture of Kumamoto, it was discovered that the famous Kumamoto castle collapsed.

Thank you for reading!
