Never been in Japan .. but I want to go and consider it to be a big deal. Why? Good question. Out of all the countries out there, there are only two counties that I have ever really wanted to visit - Norway and Japan. Norway turned out to be everything I was hoping for and a bit more - lovely place, lovely people. Since I've never seen it for myself: Japan is still in the "dream zone" - out there on a fluffy pink cloud. As usual: grass is always greener on the other side..
Lately I have been wondering why exactly Japan? Why not USA, China, Cuba ....
Makes me think back to my first encounter with something Japanese - when I was a kid, I watched a movie based on James Clavell's Shogun. Was fascinated and scared stiff by it - the discipline, the cruelty, the cunning politics, the beauty. Remember thinking back then - no way this existed in the real world - not in this form. Completely different from the world I knew back then.
Its still different - also from the world that I know now. Only now, I no longer believe everything I see in movies. I also know for sure that the grass is not greener on the other side - not always, anyway. Still, why not go and see it
3 days ago I was promised something: I can have 21 days to use on a trip to Japan when I reach a certain personal goal - I am counting on doing so at some point next year. The promise did not come from God, so there is only so much I can count on it, so much that can go wrong, but at least now, I have a good carrot to push me forward in my little quest - if all is good and we all are healthy, I'm gonna see Japan soon
