Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet

I guess that the title of this blog-entry doesn't make any sense to anyone, except for those from the Netherlands and Belgium. However, I feel obliged to explain: Today is a national holiday, because it's the fifth of Decembre...ehhh pakjesavond. This evening children will get presents and candy(mainly consisting of chocoladeletters and pepernoten) from Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet, let's say Sinterklaas is the Dutch version of Santa.

Even though I am dutch, i do not celebrate it here in Japan... they do have him coming in the harbor here in Kobe.

I do am planning to celebrate this again when i am having kids, because i want them to know about dutch culture as well.

Well i like presents 2...
But isn't it a bit difficult to celebrate it in a country that doesn't celebrate it.
Maybe we should introduce this to japan (for example)
