I recently found this in my grandfathers attic storage. He said that he brought it back after the war but didn't remember much about it. Any help would be much appreciated, including what the image is even of? I think its a plant or gourd of some sort but cannot tell...

The one on the right back would be a pumpkin (so-called "gourd pumpkin" in Japanese), but the signature is illegible.

Thank you Toritoribe,

Im glad I know what the image is actually of now! I assumed as much about the signature. Do you, by any chance have any insights on what kind of a seal signature this may be? It seems to be a bit.. odd.

Mahalo.

The seal is the painter's name (not the real name, but the artist name). It might be 主角 or 角主, but google search results show that this is wrong or he/she is not famous. Or, it could be a single kanji. I can't judge.
