I've tried googling this question and even asking the Embassy but I just get vague answers. When it comes to picking a university for the Mext Research scholarship, does the university have to be a graduate school or have a Master's in my field?

The reason I asked this is because my major is Fashion Design. I've done some research and noticed there aren't a lot of Japanese fashion graduate schools. In fact, most schools that offer my major are vocational schools. Will it hurt my chances of getting the scholarship if my Universities of choice are ones that aren't graduate or offers a Masters?
