NEWS: Research institute sells whale meat

Reported by Kyodo news, March26, 2002:

Research institute to sell 201 tons of whale meat

The Institute of Cetacean Research, the body implementing Japan's so-called research whaling program, said Monday it will sell 201.7 tons of whale meat 窶 the catches from last year's program 窶 at wholesale markets nationwide starting this week.

The institute said 92.9 tons of minke whale meat and 108.8 tons of Bryde's whale meat from catches in the North Pacific will be put on sale until mid-June.
