    Which would be used?
    (a) The doctor’s careful treatment of the patient saved his life.
    (b) The doctor’s careful treatment to the patient saved his life.
    (c) The doctor’s careful treatment for the patient saved his life.

    Describing the action of treating, or how you treat someone or something, uses "of"; desribing the substances used in the treatment would use "for", i.e "the best treatment for back pain is rest".
