Dear native English speakers,
Would (a) have almost the same meaning as (b)? Is "already" optional here?
(a) The movie had started when I got to the theater.
(b) The movie had already started when I got to the theater.
Thanks in advance.
Hirashin

Can't (a) mean (b)?
