I know that in Japan the guys can be a bit more effeminate, and many Asians naturally have less or no body hair. So just out of curiosity, how do Japanese girls feel about a guy with a smooth body (including smooth arms and legs).

Is it seen as something better, or it doesn't matter, or gross? This would be assuming an average build (no muscles), and that he either naturally doesn't have hair, or shaves or had the hair permanently removed.

What if it was a foreign guy (Caucasian)?

Please let me know your thoughts. Non-Japanese girls feel free to also leave your personal thoughts. :)

Takayasu glares with contempt at your notion that Asians have less body hair.

Let me guess, you're a Caucasian with no hair?
Japanese girls generally dislike beards, back and chest hair but if you have no pubes or leg and arm hair either then you're going to have a bad time. That's the difference between looking "well-groomed" and unnatural.

十人十色 (juunin tooiro): 10 people 10 colors, AKA Different strokes for different folks.

I'd stop being so self-conscious about something you may have no control over, and also stop treating "Japanese girls" as a monolith. This is a personal preference that varies wildly from one individual to the next.

I totally agree with that, there are already too many stereotypes about them, and they are not half as perfect as they often seem.

No one is perfect, but I have found that Japanese women do prefer men with less body hair.

That may be true in some cases, but certainly not in all. Women are picky in many things, but that does not mean everyone thinks that way.

Are you basing this on your experience of Japanese women or women in general?
Why this question, should that make a difference? Coincidentally, there is no visible body hair on me, so I don't expect any difficulties with Japanese girls or those in other parts of the world. But anyway, to generalize here is always wrong, there are basically always and everywhere different preferences, even in Japan.

This is a Japan forum and therefore biased towards the opinions of those related to Japan, so while the OP asked 6 questions split equally between Japanese and other girls, I feel on this forum any out come would be biased towards the opinions of those living in Japan.

As for dismissing what I say with that "generalization" comment, is a little mute, because those who use this never offer up a valid opinion/reason and I feel this is because they lack knowledge of the deeper culture.

Even the culture of Japan is not consistent in any way, so personal experiences in Japan are always different and therefore not subject to any fixed scheme. Of course, I respect different opinions, but it is unacceptable to make them the standard for all of Japan's female society. Even if you could name a credible source for a representative statistic and theoretically show a majority of 60%, even then there would still be 40% against it, which would also be the antithesis of your claim. We should be glad that not all Japanese women think so!

Please don't make the mistake of believing that forums, blogs, or social networks provide reliable proof here!

I wonder how such a source could exist as what constitutes various degrees of body hair is subjective to the core and therefore impossible to demonstrate in any kind of scientific study. This will probably always exist as hear-says and agglomerates of personal opinions. Then you'd need to establish variables like where having hair is ok vs not ok and so on.
I personally feel that asking "Are women from x country like so and so" is essentially futile as you'd only end up hearing the opinions of the most vocal as opposed to how things are which is likely very much so nuanced as @DavidChiang mentioned.

Again using statistics is another way to dispute what anyone says, without actually offering anything factual.

I feel personal experiences are different because most refuse to learn, understand and live the culture.

As for providing a credible source that would fit with a fixed scheme as you put it, why not look at the Japanese education system, because I have children in the system and that has never changed and they have strict rules for uniform, hair length, facial hair, etc and there are penalties for breaking any of these rules.

And remember its the Education system that shapes the Japanese population, as its very good at producing an obedient work force that accepts everything and questions nothing.

The Japanese school system is not directly related to the topic mentioned. On the contrary, it is now Japan's worst weakness and should be reformed long ago. What used to be Japan's strength in the past is developing into an ever-worsening problem in society today. To cite this as a valid measure is therefore just as wrong as the alleged preference for body hair. Equally questionable is also the recurring argument that the culture behind would be the cause of all sorts of phenomena in society. We can be happy that there are far more diversity and differences in Japanese society today than it was 25 years ago.

The education system may not be directly related to the topic mentioned, but you have not offered up anything regarding the topic other than criticism.

As for the education system, how did you arrive at this assumption.

If you follow this thread carefully, then you should also have noticed that I am not the only one who has a critical opinion, and I have also substantiated that in detail. Thus the reasons should also be clear to everyone. I am sure you know that there are a whole series of more important human values than just body hair.

As far as the education system is concerned, there have been massive complaints from parents against the school authorities for decades. You could easily enumerate a whole list of pointless and unjust rules and violations against the students! I spoke with several affected victims of this obsolete system and what I had to hear was shocking. Fortunately it's not as bad everywhere, but the already burdened students also with untimely harassment to torture, I think is criminal and destructive in every way. But as I said before, this is one of the few dark sides of Japanese society, but it is also responsible for the still high suicide rate among young people.

Really!!

Considering you are in Austria and I am in Japan with children in the Japanese Education System, who do you think has a more valid point to raise?

Because what you have quoted above is nothing more than hearsay.

Who are you to judge that the Japanese Education system is an obsolete system?

Who I am and where I am at the moment is completely irrelevant here! Judging by your questions, everyone can easily recognize that I have a lot more background information and therefore a better judgement. I am certainly not one of the people blindly trying to defend all these negative phenomena. Rest assured there are now enough institutions that are watching the conditions in Japan very closely!

This concludes this ridiculous topic about the alleged favour of a special form of body hair for me.
