Takami Senseki

Takami Senseki (鷹見泉石, 1785-1858) was a senior advisor (karo) of the Koga Domain (modern-day Ibaraki Prefecture) and was known as a great expert in Dutch (Western) studies (rangaku). His portrait is rendered by Watanabe Kazan (1793-1841), who himself promoted Japan's modernization.
