Lobster In Logan Airport Luggage Weighs Over 20 Pounds « CBS Boston

When I first saw the story I thought it must be that the passenger was transporting the lobster illegally and got busted.

No.....turns out it is perfectly fine to have a live lobster in checked baggage. The TSA just felt it was okay to remove a traveler's personal property from their baggage and post photos with it.

Going to see selfies of them trying on people's clothes next?

That thing is massive. A pet lobster....?

Update:

The owner is boiling mad and the TSA will be explaining itself to at least one senator.

In case nobody noticed, it wasn't just a couple of TSA agents posting photos of themselves goofing around with a traveler's private property. The TSA public affairs office tweeted it out. What possessed those mörons to think that was a good idea is beyond me.

Seems to me there is a serious "power gone to the head" problem in America. Of course as a well known hater of authority in general, I see that a lot. It is amazing to me that people drive so carefree down the highway, but are terrified some terrorist might hijack their airplane. As far as I know, TSA has caught not one potential terrorist in all its time. They got the underwear bombers and shoe bombers after the fact. I am not afraid to fly. However the TSA gives me great enough anxiety that I don't bother. I may never go home to police state America even for a visit. I really don't feel like being fingerprinted, photographed, body scanned or cavity searched and having my belongings confiscated. Am I headed home or to prison?? This lobster thing is the slightly amusing tip of the iceberg.

Luckily, I'm too poor to fly.

The TSA is just ridiculous all around. I think it was around a year ago when there was a story of them forgetting to do one of their invasive, random, pointless pat-downs on someone. So after the flight, as he was trying to leave the airport, they tried to give him the pat-down after the fact. Presumably, that guy must have invented a time machine.

Actually, here it is... oh wow, it was almost 2 years ago.

Wow! that's crazy stuff, I'd be interested to know what came of all this. The youtube description says he left with no incident from the police, so those were just empty threats I suppose.
