    Fujiko Hemming

Wow, I had heard about Fujiko and her music, especially due to her regaining of her hearing. She's worked hard for her art and I will keep a lookout to see if she's playing near me

    HB, Debs!

Heya, good to have you back. Happy (belated) Birthday. Hope you had a good one!

Kaoru Muraji? I think I've heard some of her songs. It's a good target because she's reeeeeaaally good! Didn't know just the wood was the difference for Flamenco guitars. Flamenco style for me is a bit difficult, especially on steel strings. A good way to get some cool scars :)

    Miyazaki!

He also did Mononoke Hime [Princess Mononoke] which got a release in the west too. I do really want to see Spirited Away due to the hype surrounding it!

I agree with grza. In my experience, it's best if you go with a nylon string guitar (classical/Spanish guitar) rather than a western style steel string model. It's convenient in your case because you want to do classical and flamenco, and a classical guitar should not be substituted in this...

    Interesting Question...

I agree with "Thomas and the gang" (potential band name) on this one. "Anime" seems to be the romaji'd version of the abbreviated word for "animation" for the Japanese. I see that over here and in parts of Europe they also use the spelling "animテゥ" too, which may have originated from France...

    Purikura (Print Club)

Purikura is over here in London too. Been here for quite a number of years too, and as you say, you can change backgrounds, add text, etc. More than likely not as advanced as the ones in Japan since they probably grind their own lenses, while we have to settle for borrowing someone else's 🙂...

    me.

Feel free, Harvey... but I am sure the best person to ask on this forum may be Dana (Dluxon) who is a career guitarist :)

    my intro

Kinda true. It really ate into my 20s before I developed a full blown fascination. Maybe the years of neglect kick in at some point

    Particles

That link is alright, albeit a bit basic It's missed out the other common particles such as: "kara" and the obvious "no" I don't know about great tips for learning when to use them. I just kinda guess what it is most of the time (with the exception of "ga" and "wa" which are really...

Fast food sends schoolgirls into sexual feeding frenzy

Bizarre. So junk food is evil but can improve life in other areas? Sounds weird. I really try to stay away from junk food but sometimes I get cravings for it [the junkfood]. Not so much the case at home, but more for fast food joints. Some days I might be sitting at home and get a craving for...

Have you been to Japan already?

I'm pretty interested in going over to Japan at some point next year. I'll most likely be going it alone and still have no idea of the places I want to visit (asides from Tokyo). Akemi, could you offer any more information on the host family exchanges? I'm pretty curious about trying it out as...

    What's your favorite Japanese food?

My pappa used to down raw eggs in the morning too for breakfast. I believe he did this till that salmonella warning in the early to mid 80s. I've never actually downed one whole or had it on donburi... but sometimes when I am making ramen I like to break a couple of eggs into the soup. They...

    What's your favorite Japanese food?

We have Benihana's over here too and although I like their food... it does (pardon the expression) feel really westernized. I prefer going somewhere in Chinatown or a place with a more traditional approach to things. Benihana is still excellent for teppanyaki though! Do they have "Yo! Sushi"...

    What's your favorite Japanese food?

I had bad stomach memories growing up watching Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom (you know, that banquet scene). I have a hard time eating wormlike things without legs such as snails, but I love seafood. I've tried dried squid and I do not know of the type eaten in S Korea (they are salted I...

    my intro

I think I'm amongst the younger folk in this forum but in the UK when I was growing up, there weren't really any areas concentrated in Asians asides from Indians. There were in fact, hardly any from SE Asian or Far Eastern descent. Kinda made it weird in ways growing around around all of this...

    me.

Welcome Harvey. I love Japanese, computers and the guitar, so if you have any questions please shoot (especially on guitar. I doubt I could help out with the other two so well since we've got some veterans in here :))

    samuraitora kyosai

Welcome John I agree with an idea for a purely Japanese )sub( forum. It would enable me to practise my "Japarise" and have everyone poke fun at me (and hopefully correct me too). Would really help some of us out, I'm sure [smilie deleted]

    Japan out...

Also, back in the 1960s, N Korea (yes, North Korea) beat Italy and I saw similar "patriotic" banners displaying something to the effect of "Remember 1966" when the golden goal went in. I really wish I was in Seoul yesterday evening! Hmmm, I wonder what will happen to the Italians when they go...
